Nick and I signed an official commitment letter to adopt LB this afternoon. The investigation into his case has shown that his case is good and he is adoptable. We were told last Monday that the file was almost complete, but didn't receive any details regarding what that meant or when they anticipated it would be complete. Thankfully, we received this good news this afternoon.
What's next? We FedEx'ed some final paperwork to the agency in SC today. Those papers will arrive on Monday morning. The agency will then send our dossier (remember that HUGE pile of paperwork?) to our attorney in Uganda. He will go through our files and compile some legal affidavits petitioning the court for legal guardianship of LB. That paperwork will come back to us, we sign it, and then that all goes back to the attorney in Uganda. He will take that paperwork and file for a court date.
While it is clear that LB will not be home for Christmas, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am thankful for small blessings.
Glad to hear things are moving along.
